More about Glyde House
Glyde House is a large property with a modern kitchen/breakfast room and an open-plan sitting and dining room, leading out to the deck for barbecues and entertaining. Cosy evenings beside the open fire can be enjoyed in the sitting room, and pianists are encouraged to make use of the baby grand piano. The garden provides space for children to explore and the large lawn is ideal for playing croquet or having a game of rounders. From the deck, fine views over the countryside and nearby water meadows can be enjoyed.
Built from local Portland Stone, Glyde House offers flexible accommodation including a ground floor bedroom with en-suite facilities. The location is secluded and unique. A two-minute walk finds you in the centre of town, whilst a few minutes walk in the other direction and you are in the peaceful countryside.
Famously named Casterbridge in Thomas Hardy’s novels 'The Mayor of Casterbridge' and 'Tess of the D’Urbervilles', it is easy to appreciate how Dorchester and the surrounding area inspired the author. Just a short stroll away you can amble along the River Frome, and nearby you will find the ruins of a Roman villa with its mosaic tiled floors; Shire Hall, where the Tolpuddle Martyrs were tried, is just one of several museums and attractions in the county town.
A stay at this well-situated property offers many opportunities for walking, cycling and the Jurassic Coast is only a short drive away.
